Jewelry Class

This is probably the easiest class I've ever taught. We used Vintaj products, bottle caps, beaded pendant for magnetic baubles. We made 3 interchangeable baubles (magnets on back). This way you can constantly change the pendant to go with what you are wearing. These are probably the quickest and easiest projects to do. What great gifts. Literally, waiting for the glue to dry is the longest part.

Sad Times

It is sad for me to say but The Angel Company™ has hung up it's wings. The economy is making it difficult for companies to stick around. Sometimes decisions have to be made for the best of the owners (whether we like it or not). TAC™ will be missed. I have a lot to thank the company for... I made some great friends along the way, improved as an artist, and ventured out to try new things. Who knew that someday I'd be certified for Copic markers. Thanks TAC for giving me the confidence I needed to succeed and grow.

Fabric Stamping

I've had a very busy summer. My son is sleeping on the couch after being with a friend. Kids are so cute when they are sleeping. I guess I was nicknamed the crafty mom for his class. So, for the end of year gifts we did bags for them to put stuff in. I stamped their names on each bag, but you know that's never enough.

Here's what I used:

Lumiere paint

The Angel Company™ alphabet stamp set

Stencils cut using my Cricut

Art Institute fabric glue and glitter

My son's name is very short but I had others that were very long which is why I chose that particular alphabet. I dabbed Lumiere paint onto the stamps to make their names. I love spellling their names onto the block and stamping it all at once. The lizard is done using a cricut cartridge (Life's a beach I think). I cut it out of plastic, laid it on the fabric, and filled it in with fabric glue. I then sprinkled the glitter all over the lizard shape. The Falcon was done using Make the Cut™. I cut the falcon out of plastic and then painted the inside of the stencil. I used the end of my brush to make the eye. I was very happy that the kids loved them.

Copic Intermediate Certification

I am finally Copic Intermediate Certified. What a great class! Debbie Olson was our instructor. Lori Craig was her helper that day. She was going to handle the regular certification the following day. The class was really good. We learned more on color theory and hard line shadows. We "played" with the transparencies that show you how light hits on an object and where to color lights and shadows... very interesting. I learned a lot and had a great time. I was in class with Tina Morgan and Yuki.

A Card A Day in the Month of May

It's Tuesday and I am so honored that I'm a guest designer for The Angel Company. I decided to step out of my norm and do girls. I know it's a stretch but when you only have a boy that doesn't help. Plus, the stamp set I wanted to use I could only find half of it, and of course, the half I wanted was the part missing. Here's a closeup:

The card is very fast and easy to make. I followed Heather's pattern but changed a few things. The square is 2 3/4 x 2 3/4; my rectangle is 3 x 4 3/4. The tag comes with the paper pack. I used an edge distresser and tore a couple of places. My crop-a-dile went through the ribbon and tag at the same time.

Yes, it's my birthday. I was doing so well at keeping up with my blog but we all know that other things take priority. This past weekend I was able to spend some time stamping with friends. I think I can safely say we all had a great time. We did a technique swap. My technique was spotlighting. Here's what I came up with ...

Spotlighting is a technique were you "spotlight" one portion of your stamp or scene. I created a heart using Make the Cut™ and my Cricut. The heart is 3/4" and then a shadow using brown cardstock. The stamps are The Angel Company™ Good Times. The heart and banner are from Make the Cut™. I colored the hands and sky with Copic.
First I stamped on Neenah cardstock using Momento Coco and cut using nestabilities and did the next size for the TAC paper. I cut my hearts out and used a tweezer to stamp just the hands with momento. I cut the banner from MTC and the brown banner is cut smaller. I stamped the sentiment and pop dotted it on. It's a semi quick card.

5 Minute Card

OK, what do you do when you have to leave in 15 minutes to get to a lunch with friends celebrating birthdays? You make a quick and easy card :) Yes, this card took me no time at all to make. It was so fast and easy I was able to make two. In fact, I had so much time (ha ha) that I took a picture to show you before I ran out the door. For my photography I used a black cardigan on the back of a chair.
For me the easist stamps to use for quick cards are solid shapes. I wasn't too sure if I reallly wanted to purchase this set but it grew on me after seeing samples that Mischelle Smith did (go here to see them). Modern Mix is the name of the set and it belongs to The Angel Company™. I used Palette Hybrid inks for color. I thought about using my VersaMagic but I didn't have any drying time.

Now to add that little something.... I grabbed my scor-buddy. I couldn't see the word celebrate from the back so I made a score line first, turned it over and used my scor-bug to make the perferations. That's it.

Retiform Blog Hop

It's time for TAC's Retiform Blog Hop. OK... I know this isn't my best work but it's not too bad :) We've been snowed in for about 4 days. And no, it's not snowed in like up north ha ha. People in the DFW area don't know how to drive on this stuff so it's better to stay home. We did take one trip to the airport and it wasn't bad. We got snow at midnight and it's been snowing off and on today. My son is loving it! They have missed 4 days of school.
Now onto the quick (oh so quick) card.
Here's the original. I cut the "oval" out by hand because it was just too hard to get my Big Shot out.

OK.. so you see what I mean by my own "oval" pretty bad right? So I decided to "fix" it (like I could ha).

I added some Martha Stewart tinsel glitter using glue. I've even carried the technique into the inside of the card.

This card was so fast and easy. You should give it a try.

Decided to do digi-card

Mabelle has this great digi-Turtle stamp. I love this little guy. I decided to play with it and make a digi-card. I might even print it out and give it to someone :) Mabelle has started making digistamps. She has her own blog and you can purchase her stamps at her etsy store. Well, you can find her here : Whimsy and Stars Studio. The digital scrapbooking supplies I used are from a retired designer by the name of Dani Alencar; Cocktail Hour collection. The software I used is Photoshop CS4. The texture on the image was made using digital stamp brushes.

OK... I decided to add why the frog and the mosquito. It's a love hate relationship. The frog loves the mosquito because .... he's dinner :) Don't you have one of those relationships? Ya know the ones... You love the person so much but they drive you crazy at times. This is what happens when you are in a crunch to do something. I just love that frog and he had to be looking at something :)

Calendar Swap

I joined a calendar swap. I had November and tried to make it like the fall blog hop card I made. I meant to post this awhile back but ya know... This past weekend we went to San Antonio for a Christmas party. It was so much fun! We got our calendar swaps at the party. It was so nice to hear how much people like my page. So here it is.

The pumpkins belong to The Angel Company™. I just love that pumpkin. I masked the pumpkin in the middle to create the stacked look. They are colored with Copics. I wanted to add glitter but I ran out of time. I finally ordered some Spica glitter pens so I can add it to mine at least :) The orange background was cut using my Cricut and Make the Cut™. It measures 5.5x5.5.

Don't forget, TAC's blog hop is this weekend. It's all about brayers.

And as luck had it I got to go to the game too (but I had to sit somewhere else with my brother and JP). What a great game and opportunity.

Deck the Halls Blog Hop

The Flavor of Fall Blog Hop

Here's my card for the blog hop. I got the idea from another blog. I used Hedgehog Happiness and Give Thanks. Both stamp sets are the creation of The Angel Company™. The papers I used are DCWV and Neenah white for the Copics. The Copics I used are from the Copic Caboodle set TAC™ sells set G. I used all the colors except the reds. For the words I used nestabilities. Yuki taught me a trick using the nesties. The next cut up was too big so I took the same one I cut the words out of and made two more. I then over lapped them and cut the side notch off to form a smaller border around my words. Wasn't that a great idea. I finished off the inside and also used it to hide the ribbon ends. Hope you enjoy the hop.

Copic Certification

Yeah, I got into Copic Certification. I can't wait to be certified and have a better understanding of the markers and such. I'm hoping to teach classes either out of my house or even a store. I prefer out of my house but hey I'm up for anything :) I still need to get some basic colors so I can start showing off my TAC stamps using Copics. Most of you are thinking, hey, she said she wasn't going to get into the Copic craze. Well, what can I say. If you are going to invest in markers they might as well be really good quality. Copics have been used by artists for a long time. It's crafters that are getting in on the craze now. Hopefully next time I'll have something stamped for you.

But for now here's two posters I made for Ty's teacher last year using my Cricut.

Red Hot Swap

I'd like to start off saying, "I got a Scor-Buddy with mat!" I do have to admit I collect scoring tools. If you ever want to know about one just shoot me a question. I have the Scor-Pal (with mat), Scor-Buddy (with mat), Martha Stewart's scoring tool, and Scor-It. I should end my collection there. I even have Eileen's box maker from so long ago :) I acutally took the pic of my card on my buddy mat.
The Red Hots had another card swap. Yuki was/is in charge. I'm going to start off with my own card (I gave myself permission). This card went through so many changes. Unfortunately, I only took this one picture. I had good intensions to show you the progression but it didn't happen. The first card I did was a full sheet of pattern paper. I like the look but couldn't find anymore of that paper. So, I started using smaller "strips" of pattern paper. It looked ok but not quite good enough. I then added stamps ... didn't give me warm fuzzy feelings. I then reached for my trusty embossing folders. I loved it. Here's what I swapped.

This is my first attemp at coloring with Copics. Yes, paper does matter. I stamped on white ribbon. Glitter or diamond glaze would be a good addition but when you don't have a lot of time on your hands you do what you do. The stamps and pattern paper are from The Angel Company™. I love the alien in the Valentine set.

Tomorrow I'll post Yuki's swap. It's a cute kitty colored with Copic.

Thank You Cards

When there are birthdays then there are thank you cards to be made. My son is a big water lover. Our parties usually involve water so what better choice for his thank you cards but this great set from The Angel Company™ called An'Udder Birthday? I just love that set.

You can get a lot of different looks without really having to change much. Just changing the embossing folder changes the look of the card. I played around and added glitter to one. I'm too lazy to add glitter to all the other ones. I really like fast and simple. I let my Cricut and my nesties do my cutting for me. The coloring was fast (which is why I love the cow). I need to start coloring with my Copics (which TAC™ now sells in great color groupings). Now all I have to do is get my son to sign them :)

New Cricut Box

I felt like being creative today :) Actually this has been in my head for awhile. I used Cricut Design Studio (which I really don't like this program but what can you do). I welded a box from Tags Bags Boxes and More and a crown from Sweet Treats. The only thing is the lines and fold marks did not cut ... just the outline. I'll have to post the question to how to weld it without eliminating the inside lines. The lines on the crown didn't cut either (I'm perfectly ok with that). I would like to put different toppers on the boxes for different occasions. Just thought it was a cute idea. If I can get the rest to cut right I'll share my cut file.

My son's best friend is having a birthday today. We decided to create a card that he'd enjoy. I just love Make the Cut™. This software has really opened my cricut machine up to a new world. I took Pikachu from a coloring book. I love the fact I can use a cartridge or use my computer. I was able to use the font without having to install it on my computer. What a breeze! Hope you enjoy.

2nd post for today... I know... I'm amazed too. We just got back from Minnesota. John's uncle and aunt had a 50th anniversary. It was a chance to see the whole family. This was Ty's first visit. We were able to go due to the grace of God. Back in October we ended up giving up our seats for vouchers. If it wasn't for that we wouldn't have been able to go.
Here's a gift card turned into a money holder I made as a teacher's gift for the end of school.

Here's a stickles container. It keeps the stickles at the top of the bottle instead of the bottle. We made this at the mini-gathering. If I'm not mistaken the idea originally came from Rita Kegg.

Great American Scrapbook Convention

This was probably my most expensive item I bought which really isn't too expensive considering. I had debated gel pens and such in the cricut. At convention the makers of the Cri-Kits were there. I really quizzed him on the things I had learned about his pens and competitors. As you can see he talked me into it. I think one of the main reasons was their pens are made specifically for their holder. Therefore when Stamples changes their pens (heighth, width, etc) it affects the holder. I don't want to invest and later have pens that won't work then have to reinvest. I also have a lifetime warranty on the holder and 30 days on the pens. So, I had to experiment and play. Yes, I am very happy.

I played with my cricut pens ... finally. Love the look of the gels and you can draw right on your project... how cool is that! Cricut Dan was at GASC. I got the idea of the cut (and yes I used my "hated" design studio software) from Cricut Dan. He even "yelled" at me for telling people that there are cheaper prices for the cartridges out there. Their prices really weren't bad if you wanted them now but I got Just Because for 31 not 39.99 plus tax. He reallly had some great tips and if you'd like to see him he's on youtube.

This drawing is from the cricut pens. It's much thicker and you can cut it out after you've drawn it. A shadow feature would be great but you'll need alternative software because not all carts have shadows. I then did repeat last and cut it out by switching out the housing. Unfortunately I didn't change my cut depth so it didn't cut all the way through. I still like the look so I'll probably use it. So, you should always check before unloading your paper.

This is with the gel pens. Love the look but the cricut is a bit shakey. Another thing I learned was when cutting with design studio it doesn't matter where on the mat you start it goes to the original drawing. That's why there is cricut marker over the get pen.

Snow Days!

12/2/09 I haven't seen snow in December in a long time. Beautiful.

Christmas Eve ... the first Christmas Eve snow at DFW airport.

We're having so much fun with snow. It started around 10am and stopped around 9pm. We're hoping it'll still be on the ground when we get up in the morning. It might be good to be a procrastinator. I haven't done our Christmas cards this year and now I can put snow pictures on it. Have a Merry Christmas!

First Digital Template

OK, Rhodeen says she misses my cards. I actually did two cards. One of my own creations and one is a copy of Barb Fosters. I got the idea of my card from my calendar swap page I made. If you are in the swap you don't want to peek :)
This is my calendar swap. I used pretty sparkly paper and embossed it with my cuddlebug. I used The Angel Company™ stamps, prismacolor pencils, and marker direct to stamp technique. I, of course, had to add glitter to make it all worth while.

After I saw the finished project I thoutht this would make a great card. I think it's a great card so I hope you do too.

We just got back from Disney. My keyboard stopped working on my computer so I'll be buying a new one today. Life sure does catch up to you fast. We had an interesting summer. Ty turned 6. Our vacation was awesome. I would have thought Alaska would have been much colder. What a beautiful state. Here are some digital layouts I did.

What a week!

I don't have any pictures yet to post but I'm working on it. I got my swaps back from Yuki so I'll take pictures and share them with you all.
I was chosen to be on a Creative Team for Dani Alencar. She's a digital designer and I just love her work. She sells at one of my favorite places godigitalscrapbooking.com and a new place I'm investigating called TDC (thedigichick). She does templates as well as kits, overlays, elements, alphas, etc. Can't tell I'm excited :) Digi scapping is just making my life a little easier. I'm getting so much done doing my pages digitally. Does this mean I'm completely digital ... no; but, I can see why people do go completely digital.
Last week Yuki and Zip came to visit. That was really nice but it made life a little hectic. I finished my taxes ... yeah. Got to attend a Red Hot Roundup (Beverly's cooking is awesome). There were some great projects. I wish I could go all the time but alas.... My husband was very kind and took the kids (and I only have one). Last week was also a week of sadness for some. I had two friends who needed me to watch their kids so they could attend funerals (same day different funerals). Thursday was a busy day for me.
That's it for now. I'll take pics of things and post them hopefully later today along with some new digi layouts and possibly a pinecone press layout I need to get done for my pinecone press book club. Oh yeah, I also bought Wild Card Cricut cartridge (I love price matching).

I'm having way too much fun with digital. This is actually a 12x12 layout but it's negative space. It's a style challenge at godigitalscrapbooking.com. I can do 1-2 layouts a day, journaling and all. We went to Fossil Rim and I've already completed two layouts.

I'm so excited. I was chosen to be a guest on a creative team for a one kit design call. I feel so honored and I love her kits. So here's my plug. The kit has a ton of stuff in it. I created 3 pages in hardly any time. I just love all the papers and embellishments. The designer is Maria Designs and this kit is called Country Easter. You can buy it at godigitalscrapbooking.com. It's a great site. The ladies there are so nice and supportive. Check out the kit ... you won't be disappointed.

I joined some other challenges there as well and here's two more I came up with.

I've also become a template junkie. Scrapbooking hasn't been this easy. On another note I did a swap and made a card... yes, out of paper. Unfortunately I sent it off today without taking a picture. So, I'll just have to make another one so I can upload it to my blog. Until then you'll just have to look at my scrapbook pages. And yes, you can create these with paper as well :)

That's crap! I had all this typed out and then gone. It didn't even save it as a draft. Oh well.
As many of you know I have gotten into digital scrapbooking. It' fun, it's easy, and best of all it's portable. Gotta love being able to go somewhere and only carry a laptop. I love all the freebies that are out there and of course the kits you can buy are pretty awesome. There is so much talent out there that I don't feel the need to have to do things myself. Now on the downside is I'm not very organized to be able to state I got this from there and so and so did this but I'm going to try to get better. There's nothing worse than not giving the artist their credit.

I just love this page. I think I did a great job if I don't say so myself. I blurred out other children and the name of the school. Next time I'll use the blur tool more and less orange clobs. The template is from noreimerreason. The papers are from fds_ms_rockstar I belive. I want to say it was a freebie I picked up. If you want shoot me an email and I bet I can find it.

Escape

TAC had Escape in San Antonio, Texas. I had so much fun seeing old friends and making new ones. Yes, I know how to make new friends.

This was my trade. I got the idea from Cindy Lawrence (Creative Closet). I thought there has to be a way I can make that into a trade. I wasn't sure if people would like it or not but they seemed to. It's not quite as elaborate as hers but for a trade I thought I did pretty good.

Now, here's what I made for clubMED (Managers, Executives, and Directors for TAC). I had a lot going on in my head but not very much time. I finished the cards on Wed and then left for Yuki's.

I think I did pretty good.

This is my clubMED trade. We try to do something different (usually something other than a card or a card with a twist to it). I made these and filled them with chocolate. Of course I got the idea off of splitcoaststampers.

I got home on Sunday with a lot of stuff. Serendipity is beautiful. TAC did an incredible job on the presentation of our new stamps. It goes live Feb 1!!

Here's a card I made for a bday present for one of my son's friends. I used my cricut expression, dcwv papers and some flowers (white ... TAC).

My mom and my son made a ginger bread house. I helped in the final stages of decoration.

Last but not least was a fun time we had in San Antonio. Ty got to see the Santa Choo Choo and I got to spend time with my friend.

Been a long time

Yes, it's been a very long time. Things have been pretty hectic around here. I get to go in to work now but luckily it's not every day but it still takes time away from what I enjoy doing. I do have some pictures to post and as soon as I get them out of my camera I'll share them with you. My son is now in Kindergarten so my world has changed. You'd think that would mean more freedom but where we are he goes to school from 8-11. That's not very long. I've also been digitally scrapbooking so I'll have to share those as well. We're off to a birthday party tonight so hopefully I'll be able to add to this page on Sunday after my trip to San Antonio to see the Yukster. I did find this great blog that has free backgrounds. New twist on flip flap book

A wonderful woman taught me how to do this >>> the amazing Joyce Hazen. She is extremely talented. She was in for a stamp convention. Her book is amazing. Mine is still uncomplete. I need to add photos and journaling to it. I used my scor-pal to score the lines. The beautiful patterned paper belongs to The Angel Company™. This book seems endless :)

Think of all the different ways you can add flaps. Just beware that you don't make it too thick that your book won't close.

Water bottle labels

Some friends of ours did this for our son's birthday. How cool is that. And yes, the labels aren't affected by the water. I've got to figure out a way to stamp this and get the same effect. I can only imagine the possibilities. What a great way to advertise your business! Maybe modge podge or I'll just have to find some labels like that and stamp on them.

My son is a Power Ranger Jungle Fury addict. Maybe one day I'll remember to take pictures before the party starts. At least this year I took more than four pictures :)

My son just turned 5. I got this idea from Heather Scott. Check out her blog: http://stampez.typepad.com/ This is his bday invitation. I typed all the information on my computer for the inside of the card. I also used my cricut to cut out the circles. Gotta love that. I love how The Angel Company™ gives the sizes of the circle stamps to use with our circle punches. I just dial it in on my cricut and it's a no brainer. I ran out of blue so that's why there are two different colors.

Next were the thank you cards. I started off with the cricut because I wanted it to be fast but I later switched to my stamps because in the long run it was faster than pasting the stuff down. I also had trouble with the ribbon on the presents. I probably need to change my blade. I experimented.

If you haven't figured it out yet my son's favorite color is blue.

Seminar came and went :(

Seminar has come and gone. I'm glad and disappointed. It was a lot of work to get everything ready plus all the family stuff had me running. I made this card for graduation.

This is my prop swap for seminar. I won Stephanie Hedgepeth's swap. I'll take pictures and show it to you later. Mine is a memorie purse. It has hinges so the book opens and closes easily. Sandy won it and I hope she likes it. The papers and stamps are TAC™.

I did save the date "cards". My friend Stacey said I needed to make them colorful and fun. I'm hoping this helps people to remember. It's hard having your birthday during the summer.
I used my cricut to cut the bottom scallop out... how fast and easy that was. I also used Going Places to cut out the sailboat. August and 2 was cut out using Quickutz calendar cookie cutters. Got to love it... fast and easy.

It's time for teacher gifts. I'm pretty sure his teachers don't read my blog so I'm posting what I made for them. The gift card holders are complements of Yuki. The card design was compliments of a someone at a crop (sorry I forgot your name). All stamped images are The Angel Company™.

These were quick and fun to make. My son learned so much in preschool. I really appreciate the hard work his teachers put into it. I think my son is ready for kindergarten.

She gave a great tutorial on making your own banner so I tried it out. This is my first attempt so her directions really are good. I'm going to try to make a better one later. I used my PS 5.5. One of my favorite places closed down while I was away in San Antonio. I made this for the owner of the store. This is from Paper Dolls, Walk in My Garden, and stamps by The Angel Company™. I colored the crown and the necklace with glitter pens. The paper is Basic Grey. I had so much fun putting this together. I'm sure I used other cartridges but it was so nice to be able to do it all with what I had. Gotta love it.

This is a design by Yuki. We made this during a wonderful weekend with her. Isn't she creative!! It's a file folder that she has turned into a journal and photo album. It's just right for a little trip you want to keep the memories near and dear.

New items.. finally

I have a couple of things to show you but I'm going to add them over the next few days. If I gave them to you all now what would you have to come back to ... ha ha. I did these for a group of special ladies who have been helping me support my stamping habit. The concept was first introduced by TAC at a winter retreat. Then I saw how cute they were decorated (some friends went to a retreat where they made these). I decided to use my cricut to do the letters. The choice was Mickey Font. I then stamped on them and colored with glitter pens.
The colored chipboard is DCWV, paper Basic Grey, pony tail holder, and bind it all. Until tomorrow.

Couple of Things

Yeah, taxes are so done. Took forever but we got them done before the 15th. I tried to post earlier but there's was something strange going on. I finally finished my spider layout. Since the pictures have been taken our spider friend has moved on. My son keeps asking when he's coming back. I keep telling him more will take it's place.

This is an Easter shot. What a simple page this was. I made it for a 6x6 trade. Since the photo is 4x6 I just had to fasten it down and I was done. I used a sketch provided by The Angel Company. I'll have to put it in a format I can post.

That's all I've got for now. I'm going to try to take pictures of projects I made that were created by Yuki. Those were some cool projects she made. It's off to the zoo in the morning.

Well, I was bitten by the bug and not a very nice one. I finally have the virus the rest of the family had. However, before getting sick I did go to a crop and was able to work on some things. it's not complete with pictures and such but it will be eventually. I started thinking if I could create a spiderweb what else could I create. How about a fence.

And surprisingly it didn't take as long as I thought it would. Enjoy :)

I received some great news. Diana Crick has asked me to be a Scor-pal design team member. I am so excited. I'll have something coming out in the Sept/Oct ezine so keep an eye out for it. I know that's a long time from now but what can I say... I'm excited. It's snowing in Texas! We haven't had snow like this in years. It's March. Hard to believe but we have about 3.5 inches. This is my son's second snowman. My poor flowers... they had already started to bloom. My son and I had a great snowball fight.

I had an idea pop in my head and I just had to get it out. Everyone in the house is sick except me... knock on wood. My son is into spiderman and likes spiders. So, my "brilliant" idea was to make a spiderweb using my scor-pal. I tried it on black but forgot to see if it had a white core (of course not). I did that on 12x12 and will make a scrapbook page out of it hopefully in the near future. Then I decided to try it on a brown piece of paper with a white core... love it :) I have to admit I like the result.

With Valentines for son's class, teacher appreciation day, and so much more going on I haven't had time to blog. But, I'm going to show you what I've made during this month.I made these for my son's teachers. I used tags, bags, boxes and more cartridge and also the stamped for the word. So fast and easy!!

Then I realized I forgot one of the teaching assistants and ran back home to make one more.

For class my son had to decorate a bag to use at school for a game at snack time. He loves the Mickey and friends cartridge so we used it to decorate the bag along with some stamps (The Angel Company™).

Not bad for a first try if I say so myself. I have a lot more practice to do but I think I'm going to like this machine. Now if only my son was into Mickey and his friends.

Great time at Escape

I had a great time at Escape (TAC function). Here is the swap I made. I just love explosion boxes especially this one with pockets. I made this one into a calendar. All stamps and papers are TAC. I did use a picture of the Alamo since we were in San Antonio at the time. The undecorated spots are for pictures and journaling.

This is one of my swaps I made. It holds two peppermint patties. I wish I could remember the site I got the template from; I'll try to find it and post a link.

This is a quick card I made as a thank you. It was very fast and extremely easy.

My brother comes home from Spain on Wed. We are looking forward to having him at home. Hopefully I'll have more to post before my life gets out of control again.

Escape

I'm getting ready to go to Escape. It's a TAC sponsored function in San Antonio, TX. We'll get to make samples with the new products and stamps. I'll also get to trade with other angels and see old friends and make new ones. I love the set we get for attending. I used it to create this card.

The only reason I'm really updating at this time is for a friend of mine who really didn't like looking at the stitches. I'll have more to post when I return from Escape. Have a great weekend and I need to go finish my prop swap.

Belated Merry Christmas

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas. We did. My son was spoiled as always. He's into pirate ships so he received a lot of boats. I guess it's my fault since I'm a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean.

I thought I'd share his stitches with you. This was our vacation (happened right in the middle). He has them out. He says he's glad his chin no longer tickles him.

Here's the August calendar page my son and I worked on. I tried to share it before but it wouldn't upload. I guess blogger has worked out the kinks.

I still have Christmas cards to do... someday :)

Gift Card Holders

I've been trying to publish the last couple of days and found out my virus protection had a problem updating therefore not allowing me to log in to anything. All is good now... I hope.
Here are some of the gift card holders I made. Unfortunately I am a procrastinator so the pictures aren't really the complete project and I didn't take pictures of them all. I went back and added ribbon and glitter and liquid aplique to the santa hats. I made 14 in all (2 of each design). Their favorite colors are purple and blue so I tried to incorporate that in the holders.

I thought I did pretty good considering we just got back from vacation and I'm sick with bronchitis. I also gave each teacher one of my nugget boxes. They loved them. I actually got a lot of compliments on my card holders... made me feel good. So thanks for all those compliments.

2 more days until Christmas. My son is counting down the days. Merry Christmas to all my friends out there. Hopefully I'll get those Christmas cards made and out to you before Valentines day :)

Wow what a vacation!

We finally got to go on vacation this year. It was a lot of fun. I made my own book to take notes in and to record what happened every day so I wouldn't forget. This was a lot of firsts for my son. His first airplane ride, his first cruise, his first stitches... yes stitches... 5 of them, and his first time in the ocean. I made the book using my bind-it-all, TAC papers, notebook paper, and I made my own pockets. I'll put the paper things I collected from the cruise in the pockets and put a few of my favorite pictures on the page of the day.

This is the ship we were on. It was huge. They had rock climbing, ice skating, a flow rider, miniature golf, and much more. My husband and some friends won first place in the doge ball championship. They took the competition by storm! They received a medal for all their hard work.

This is Labadee, Haiti. What a beautiful place.
Now this is my friend Yuki and her famous duck face. She'll probably kill me the next time she sees me for publishing this. It was her first time to rock climb and she did great!

12/4: I'm in a calendar swap and did those the other night. My son really wanted to help me so I gave him the one I was keeping for myself (my sloppy copy). Here it is: maybe not. Blogger is having a problem uploading my image so I'll save this until later and see if it works.

12/5: For some reason blogger just doesn't want you to see that piece of artwork. Maybe when I have time I'll be able to figure out why blogger doesn't like it

Yet Another Quick Update

I finally got to have a stamp camp. Here's one of the cards we completed. I used a design from my best friend Yuki Zepeda. I keep telling her to have a blog because she is such an awesome artist but she refuses thinking it's too much work (love ya Yuki). The only difference from her design and mine is I added the cuddlebug embossing in my Big Shot and distressed the edges of the long green paper and took off the ribbon. I also did another card and it was modeled from my dear friend Rita Kegg. I haven't scanned it yet. She has a blog which is also awesome.
I have some other completed projects but I haven't had time to take pictures of them. The Christmas season is just getting so hectic. I need to make more calendars to so I can give them to my stamp club. I already have some things I'm going to give them but just in case they read my blog I don't want to mention them. They are wonderful women and also very talented.

This is an FYI. The cuddlebug embossing folders will fit in the Big Shot enabling you to emboss only one side of your card. You can't do that in the Cuddlebug. This makes for very quick and easy cards. The folder is a little shy of the paper as you can see above but everyone loves the look.
